Probably the best thing to do would be to just start posting names from these lists that shouldn't make the field.
We'll start lopping them off until we get to 64 (16 in each reg)
Glenn - I almost think you and Zip should be the committee and come up with a bracket based off of the nominations. It would add controversy (which would cause discussion and possibly humor), but it would also be a lot easier in the long run.

Maybe you are right.
Why don't you send me your top 16 in each, too via PM.
Anybody else that wants to PM me top 16 lists can do so too.
We'll set the field on Monday.
The "Misc" category was a little light, so I've come up with these other nominees
Hunter S. Thompson
Jack Kerouac
Bob Ross
Andy Warhol
Kurt Vonnegut
Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain)
Alfred Hitchcock
Stephen King
Dr. Seuss
John F. Kennedy
William Shakespeare
I tried to come up with a cool Republican, but Reagan and Giuliani are as close as I could come.
Ben Stein?
I would like to add one more nomination, if it's not too late - Nate Dogg.
No Tournament of Cool Guys would be complete without a John Denver/Martina Navratilova play-in game.
The field of 64 and schedule are now posted, as are the first round matchups in the Sports bracket for this week.
Thanks to MoTown, Zip, Vinny and MOLA1 for help with the field, and to anyone that posted nominations.
Should be a nerdy/fun time.
I just got an email from a representative for the Don Knotts camp.
They're not happy about the snub.
I'm unhappy about all of my "misc." nominations.
I'm going to start my own Tournament for people who are just barely not cool enough to get in. I'll call it:
The NITOC.
Starting next week on ESPN 5.
More of your historical figures might have made the field if they had some You Tube material.
Or if they had killed fewer innocent people.
I tried to find some YouTube of Jesus walking on water, no dice.
Also, if Lionel Richie were to somehow beat Jesus in a #1 vs. #14 showdown, we might have had to shut down the site.
Erik the Red:

Known for his red hair and to a lesser extent, the discovery of Greenland. God Glenn, don't you know anything???
p.s. I had no idea who Erik the Red was up until about 2 weeks ago.
Oh and I'm considering leaving the board over the fact that the Hoff didn't make the field.
And Chuck Norris was not only a noticable snub, but it's an obvious traveshamockery to not include him on any list... EVER.
Don't make me post the PMs, Mo.Quote:

I'm just worried for your sake, G-Diddy. I wouldn't want to be the one to have had the final say when Mr. Norris comes to WTF to find that not only isn't he the overall #1 seed, but he's not included at all.
It's been nice knowing you, Glenn.
I'll catch this on the next update of the bracket, but the four regionals have been given names.
Sports - George Blaha regional
Music - David Hasslehoff regional
TV/Movies/Stage - Chuck Norris regional
Misc. - Barbaro/Harold Reynolds regional
Sorry I wasn't able to disclose this until now, I was involved in super secret negotiations until 12:34 pm EST today.
Well I guess that's a start, but I'm still not so sure that Chuck is going to be completely happy. Maybe it should have been the Chuck Norris Tournament of Cool.
This tournament is only second to ESPN's Who's Now.
I'm surprised Chris Benoit did not make it.
FWIW, I just compressed the schedule down
2 days in each regional is all we should need for the early matchups, it gradually goes up (amount of time) as the matchups should get tougher and tougher
too soon.Quote:

Round 1 of the George Blaha Sports bracket will close tomorrow midmorningish.
Round 1 of the David Hasselhoff Music bracket will begin shortly thereafter.
I like it.
I've been lookin' for freedom!
It's too bad I thought about this now, but Rosie Ruiz is a definite snub in the Blaha Region.
ALL OF YOU EVENING POSTERS/LURKERS BETTER VOTE
