If you're employing a Hi/Lo system, and the count is +6 or higher, should that prevent you from hitting on either a 15 or 16 when the dealer's showing an 8, 9, or 10?

Ledezma.
Stand up guy.
It's worked at MGM for the last week I've started it, so I figure it's worth the extra time to figure out how to do it correctly...
Plus, the libs want gas at $4/gal, so I'm going to need a bigger budget to offset the forthcoming progressive agenda
Unless you're working with 3-4 other people, don't waste your time. By the time you get up to any kind of serious bet spreads, they'll be all over you and shut you down.
Shut you down? For what? They can talk to you, try and distract you, but they WANT you in there playing. More people playing blackjack = more $$$ for the casino. I find it hard to believe they would kick someone out if they suspected counting cards.
Especially a 21 year old playing at $25 a hand...they wouldn't think much of it unless it was painfully obvious.
I'm in the novice stages, and it's always paid some dividends.
MGM uses 6 decks and dealers stay on soft 17...the counting itself is easy, it's just the strategy of it (like the question I had in #1) which I'm curious about...
$25 a hand is your top bet?? You may have been getting lucky so far and doing ok, but unless you're making a much bigger spread on your bets, you're going to have down days too. Things even out pretty quick.
I'm not trying to discourage you too much, sorry if it sounds that way, it can be pretty fun too, but counting 6 decks, you need a huge spread in your bets to make it pay off when the count's real good, and a huge bankroll to weather the storm when you sometimes just plain get unlucky on good counts.
I just play for fun, but I use a base $10 bet and double it each time I lose. When I win a hand, back down to $10. There's probably a name for that "system" but I don't know what it is. Things get a little interesting when you lose 3,4 or 6 hands in a row, but you have to have the balls and the bankroll to stick with it or you're sunk. I need about $750 to feel good sitting down with that approach.
Problem with that system is you get 6 bets to win a hand or you generally hit table limits.
I can honestly say that I've never run into that. Generally the table limits that I see at $10 tables is $1K, and even if it got that high, you can always have the dealer call over the pit boss and request an over limit wager, which is something that I've only seen a few times, but I've never seen them say no.

I also did that with Roulette....can't remember the minimun but the max back then was 2k. It was the same 6 bets.
At home, you think there is no way I lost 6 in a row. I've done it, I've seen others do it.
but it is a fun lil system.
Outliers are the norm.
Sit at home and flip a coin 1000 times (I know, sounds fun). See how many times you get 10-15 of the same side in a row.
I've won a few pitchers of beer by telling someone they can't get 1 call correct in 10 in a coin flip.
They might get the 1st one correct but you have to make 10 calls and you WiLL end up with more than 1 correct.
Beer me.
This thread started out ballin' and turned Dad guy.
A baller and his money are soon parted.
I do the opposite. Use $15-25 as a base bet and then raise it up to $35-45 when I win, and then $65-75 if I win again, and so on. As the total bet gets bigger, I raise it by a bigger increment. and if I win a double or a split or a blackjack, I raise it by 2 increments.
In theory, it shouldn't work, but imperfect shuffling always leads to a hot shoe or two. Win 7-8 hands (or 12) in a row and you really start pulling in the cash. On the flip side, when you lose 7-8 hands in a row, which always seems to happen, you're only losing your base bet.
I've done the whole card counting thing, and I don't think it's worth the trouble unless you're getting into big big numbers. I'm not saying my way's any better as it's not but it's a lot more fun and can give you a bigger hit without as much of a pain in the ass.
Exactly.Quote:

LMAO - Probably should know the answer to this question before you sit down at the table and start counting.Quote:

You cannot bargain with what you don't have.Quote:

Educate yourself on the whole "counting cards" thing and then sit your ass down at a table for the day.
Or watch the movie about them young fucks. Kevin Spacey was in it. Here in Oz it was called 21. Might have a different name over in Yankeeland (not sure. Some movies do/some don't)
Bringing Down The House (which is what the 21 movie was based off of) is an entertaining read, if not especially realistic.
I've tried various systems (mostly cramming the rules on the plane) and have done ok (except when in St. Louis on those fake riverboat casinos). I don't wager much money at all. Once I double my initial investment or lose it all, my day of gambling is done.
Won $3,000 last night in less than 2 hours. Stayed on most 16's & 15's in high counts, and dealer bust on most of them.
Fish in a f-ing barrell.
Glad you won, I've had good stretches like that too, but don't fool yourself into thinking that you have it all figured out. I doubt we'll see you here posting about how much you lost.
I promise to eat crow when I lose. Wilfredo Giacomo Ledezma is no God.Quote:

Take whatever you can "afford to lose" into the casino and bet it however you want.
Once you lose it - GO HOME!
If you end up on a winning streak put that initial amount back into your wallet and gamble with the house's money. If you lose that WHO CARES?
If you have a decent night it won't cost you a thing.
keep playing, fuck what these losers are saying. Go for as much as you can. Make a push for 100,000. It's not like your parents can't bail you out.
Did I miss something....?
When did Wil become "of age"?
It's starting to look like Wil and Shoopy are kindred spirits.
Silver spoon, Republican, UM fan and apparently some other things, too.
Going to get my gamble on at Four Winds this weekend.
Pounding the hell out of them at Let It Ride. Up about 8 hundy at the break. Amstel's cold, steakhouse dinner for 2 is already comped, hotel room is amazing, life is good.
I feel very bukdow right now.
You're using Wil's system aren't you? ARENT YOU? At least give him a cut.
wonder if the guy that charged my credit card to fly first class to Vegas last week used Ledezma's system.......or maybe it IS Ledezma
