I've been lurking over the last whatever and I saw a few great lines about what I'd feel about the end of the streak. Truth is I couldn't be fucking happier. They've done so many stupid deals and picks to pretend to "keep the machine running" instead of actually putting together a winning team, and I think that fucking streak was a big part of it. You can see two things after the last couple of years: one, how much Babcock mattered for them to get the most out of what they had and two, how much shit Datsyuk covered up. And Holland fucking burned Datsyuk out by never getting either superstar talent, better D or top defensive forwards. It's like Datsyuk had to even pick up the slack for Lidstrom leaving. The Wings have a few nice pieces as people like to say but they're a long, long way away from having enough talent to get a cup. They have so many holes. Only, of course, Holland would finally stock up on picks on what is considered a weak draft.
