August 16, 2007
DETROIT (TICKER) -- The Detroit Pistons signed forward Jarvis Hayes on Thursday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We are pleased to add Jarvis Hayes to our roster," Pistons president Joe Dumars said. "Jarvis has proven himself as a solid NBA player over the last four seasons, and we like the flexibility and depth he will bring to our team at the small forward position."
Hayes, 26, averaged 7.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in a career-high 81 games with the Washington Wizards last season. He has averaged 8.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 226 games over three seasons - all with the Wizards.
It was supposed to be a more stellar career for Hayes, who was drafted 10th overall by Washington in the 2003 draft.
The 6-8 Hayes will join a deep frontcourt in Detroit which already includes Rasheed Wallace, Jason Maxiell, Antonio McDyess and Ronald Dupree.
